Chantix

I decided to do a full post about Chantix for anyone who may have questions since there is so much hype about it in the news. I have heard both good and bad. My doctor will be monitoring me closely so I am pretty excited to give it a try. I had tried Wellbutrin/Zyban in the past and failed BIG TIME. The success rate for Chantix is supposedly phenominal.

My insurance normally pays for all my perscriptions but does NOT cover Chantix so when I picked up the starter pack at Walgreens I almost fainted. It was 134.00! However, if I quit, it will be WELL worth it believe me. The starter pack has enough meds to get you through 28 days and many people actually have quit by the end of the 28 days. I hope I will be one of them.

The first thing you do is set a quit date 7 days in advance. You are supposed to start Chantix 7 days prior to your quit date to allow it enough time to get into your system and curb your cravings. You start day 1-3 by taking 1 0.5 mg tablet every morning. Be sure and take it with food or it can nauseate you BIG TIME. On days 4-7, you take an 0.5 mg in the morning AND again in the evening.

On day 8 you graduate to a 1 mg tablet in the morning and in the evening. You do this until your 28 days are over. If need be, you get a refill if you have not quit.

Inside your starter kit is a wallet-sized card with your own personal pin # on it. This is used to sign up at Chantix.com for their support connection. Each day, you log in and there is an excercise of some sort for you to do. For instance, yesterday my assignment was to keep an ALL DAY log of when I smoked a ciggarette, what time it was, who I was with, and what my thoughts were. This makes you aware of how often you light up.

I feel real positive about this drug and the support plan. If anyone would like more info, you can go to http://www.chantix.com/ and read exactly what the drug does.

I have heard that some people have had suicidal thoughts and severe mood swings while taking this drug BUT..............I have also heard tons of good things about it.

Personally, I have been a slave to ciggarettes way too long and I am excited at the thought of becoming a NON-SMOKER!

Best of luck... I've heard positive things about Chantix from a few users. Hopefully it will give you that little extra nudge to kick it completely!

My father-in-law is using this as well. He has been a smoker for over 40 years so we all are hoping this is the one that helps him as well.
Good luck to you!

So this is the drug I've heard of. Oh Dariana, please let us know how you are doing.

I'm gonna make an appointment to get this, as I've heard REALLY good things about it as well.

The mood stuff scares me.

I do hope you are doing perfectly!

Love and Light,

Monica

My dad has been to the emergency room on (2) occasions since beginning the drug with stomach & back pain and swelling in addition to depression and anixiety and has ceased taking the drug. Both times including his primary care doctors visit they have ran all kinds of test and tell him they can figure out what is going on. I simply ask him what new drugs he may be taking and go to the internet and Walaaaa...........he signs are classic reactions to the drup listed for all to see. I guess the health care providers do not listen or have no access to the internet???
Again,,,,,,,,,,,its all about money, what a sad state our health care in US remains in.

Anonymous, I am sorry about your Dad but all drugs are not for all people, we all react differently. There are other anti-smoking drugs that helped others but caused me a poor reaction. With any drug, there is no gurantee but I suggest everyone be monitored closely any time they start a new medication.

Just to let you know, Chantix works! 31 years smoking. Last 20 @ 2 packs/day. Used to wear patch, chew the gum, and smoke at same time. 6 mos. smoke free with no desire and saved well over $1000. Remember that drug companies list EVERY side effect to protect themselves legally. Don't believe anyone would commit suicide unless they were so inclined beforehand. Never crossed my mind.
You will get vivid dreams (found out that smokers always dream but usually don't recall because of nicotine).
Upset stomach. I had to eat something when taking it the first few weeks.
The minor annoyances are worth the result. I actually only used it for 8 weeks instead of the 12. Lost all desire for smoking now. Good Health to you.

chantix is a posion perduced by a plant. It can cause extreme emotional problems in some people. The majority of smokers continue because of conditioned habits NOT nicotine addiction. Most smokers would quit without side-effects if and remain smoke free if they were properly educated in ways to change the conditioned habits.

There are nicotine replacement therapies available in the market, namely, nicotine gums, lozenges, patches et al that can help you overcome nicotine addiction. You can try out these therapies according to the doctor’s suggestions but they fail to yield desired results, chantix is definitely there to help you quit smoking. For more information on chantix, visit http://www.chantixmagic.com/.

Chantix is available in all licensed pharmacies in many countries of the world. It is also available online as many licensed sources sell it by providing professional services. This process may require you to do an online consultation that is a process similar to doing a face-to-face consultation with a doctor, but cannot replace it. http://www.chantixhome.com/
